It also discusses family responses to care and covers the latest medical advances and care options.



Alzheimer's and Dementia : Questions You Have...Answers You Need Jennifer Hay, People's Medical Society, 1996. $12.95. Presented in a question-and-answer format, this book discusses the most common medical concerns associated with Alzheimer's disease and debunks myths about this and other dementia-causing diseases. It explains which types of dementia are reversible and discusses the pros and cons of both traditional and alternative treatment.



Alzheimer's Disease: Prevention, Intervention, and Treatment by Elwood Cohen, NTC/Contemporary Publishing Group, Incorporated, 1999. $16.95. The author argues that a combination of new research and technological advances has made it possible to prevent Alzheimer's disease through early diagnosis before symptoms are noticeable. This book also gives advice to caregivers on how to fight for their loved one's medical management needs, and offers caregivers suggestions for taking care of themselves.



Alzheimer's Early Stages: First Steps in Caring and Treatment by Daniel Kuhn, Foreword by David A. Bennett, Hunter House, Incorporated, 1999. $14.95. Many books about Alzheimer's focus primarily on the middle to late stages of the disease. This book examines the medical and psychosocial aspects of the disease in its early stages. The book covers Alzheimer's disease&nbsp-- its risk factors, treatments, and prevention&nbsp-- and offers practical ways that families can care for a loved one with Alzheimer's as well as for themselves.



The Alzheimer's SourceBook for Caregivers: A Practical Guide for Getting through the Day by Frena Gray-Davidson, Lowell House, 1996. $16.00. Drawing from her own experiences as an in-home caregiver and those of hundreds of others like her, the author explains how to recognize and deal with challenging behaviors and uncover solutions to daily problems. The book also teaches caregivers how to manage their stress and maintain their morale.
